What is Usurprise?

Usurprise is a place to surprise someone, online! It’s a place where you – the Host – can launch a Virtual Surprise™ party for any occasion.

How does it work?

As a celebration Host, you’ll be prompted for your Guest of Honor’s name, the occasion, and celebration date. Next, you can start building a Guest List before sending personalized invitations. All Guests – yourself included – then come together to create a unique Virtual Card packed with personal messages, photos, and even videos. And, at the appointed time, the Guest of Honor will receive a discrete invitation to their own Surprise Party.

What celebration types are supported?

Just like our home page suggests, the celebration possibilities are ENDLESS! Because you create the celebration, you can specify its purpose. Today it might be time to say "Happy Birthday" to Joe; tomorrow it might be time for the team to wish a fellow coworker "Good Luck" in their new endeavor. Whatever the reason, it need not be traditional. Let your imagination run wild.

How do I create a new celebration?

Click any of the HOST A PARTY buttons located throughout the site.
Enter the information requested on the Celebration Details tab within Party Central.
Use the navigation buttons and follow the instruction therein until the process is completed.

How do I access celebrations I am hosting?

Click any of the LOGIN buttons located throughout the site and enter your existing Usurprise login information. Celebrations you are hosting will be listed.

How do I access celebrations I’ve been invited to?

There are several options:

Click the link provided in your Usurprise invitation email to access the celebration.
Create a Usurprise login. To do so, click any of the LOGIN buttons located throughout the site and complete the registration process. This will enable you to access any celebrations that you have been invited to as well as Host celebrations.

Click any of the LOGIN buttons located throughout the site. Next, click the "Forgot password" link and follow the instruction to retrieve your password.

Note: If you're a guest and cannot locate your invitation email, simply create a USurprise login and you'll have access to any celebrations where you are a guest.

What is a Party Central?

Party Central is where Hosts create new celebrations and guests join in on the fun. Hosts and invited guests will see a series of multi-color tabs (or pages), each representing a different Usurprise feature. For example, guests will see a Sign Card tab, Guest List tab, and Review Celebration tab – in that order. Use the navigation buttons and follow the instruction therein until you've reached the last tab.

What information is needed in order to create a celebration?

As a Host, you will be prompted for the following information:

The Occasion: This is what will appear in the Invitations so that Guests know what Celebration they will be joining. (Ex: Joe’s Birthday)
Guest of Honor Name: The name of your Guest of Honor. (Ex: Joe Smith)
Guest of Honor’s Email: The email address of your Guest of Honor.
Party Banner: This is the text that will appear across the top of the party page. (Ex: Happy Birthday Joe!)
Party Tagline: The text that will appear at the bottom of the party page. (Ex: You’re the greatest!)
Party Date/Time: This is when the email goes to Guest of Honor. Your guests will need to sign the card and, if desired, upload a photo and/or video beforehand. (all times are CST)

Note: You will be prompted for this information before you can progress to the next tabs (or pages) within Party Central. You may return to the Celebration Details tab to make changes at any time.

How do I manage the Guest List?

Select the "Manage Guest List" tab and then click the Add New Guest button. You will have the opportunity to enter up to ten names and email addresses at a time and then return to the same page if you want to add more. You will also have the ability to edit or remove an entry. You can return to the Manage Guest List tab at any time to add more guests or make changes. If you already sent out the Invitations, guests you add later will automatically be sent an Invitation.

Can my guests to invite other people?

That's entirely up to you! You will have the option to allow guests to invite other people. Enabling this option can be great way to help ensure that no one is overlooked when building a guest list.

How do I send invitations or reminders?

As a Host, you will have the option to select an invitation before sending personalized invitations to your guests. On the Send Invitations tab in Party Central, simply enter the message you want to be included for your guests. A Preview button is available to see what the invitation will look. When you’re ready to send invitations, click the Send Now button. You can return to the Send Invitations tab at any time to Send Reminders also.

What should I do if a guest does not receive their invitation?

Here are some things you can do to help ensure that all your party guests get notified:

Send Reminders
Send a follow up directly to your party guests. Let them know that, if they did not receive your USurprise! invitation, they should check their Junk Mail folder. If they still cannot locate the email, encourage them to register as a New User (using the same email address that you entered) at http://www.usurprise.com/login.asp . They will automatically see a link to the party you are hosting.
If needed, you can Edit the email address you originally entered for any guest via the Manage Guest List tab. Upon doing so, a new invitation will be sent to the new email address automatically.

Can I preview the celebration at any time?

Yes. For both Hosts and guests, the last tab in Party Central includes a Preview button so that you can see your own entry in the Virtual Card as well as those of other guests who have joined the party. A placecard will reserve a spot for those who have not yet signed the Virtual Card. Be sure to check-in regularly to see how the Virtual Card is shaping up.

What happens if a guest does not sign the virtual card?

If a guest does not sign the virtual card, the placecard which previously reserved a spot for them will be removed from view before the Guest of Honor views the celebration. Don't worry, if no one signs the card -- including you, the host -- the Guest of Honor will not receive an email.

How do I access celebrations that have already taken place?

Complete the registration process to create a Usurprise login or login with your existing Usurprise login information. This will enable you to access any celebrations where you were a Host or guest including celebrations that have already taken place.

How do I cancel a celebration?

Login to Usurprise. (Celebrations you are hosting will be listed.)
Click the link associated with the desired celebration.
On the Celebration Details page, click the cancellation link.
